Teresa Shook

Teresa is an LVN with extensive background spanning more than 18 years in meeting the needs of the elderly, the intricacies of dealing with both Medicare and Medicaid and the issues of operating businesses within this arena on a day-to-day basis.  Teresa is part of an ownership team which developed an 82-apartment assisted living community that has leased apartments at a rate far outpacing the projection prior to commencing construction.

Ms. Shook is a nationally certified Assisted Living Administrator by the Assisted Living Federation of America.  In addition, she currently serves as a representative on Government Relations Board for the Texas Assisted Living Association and on the Health and Human Services Subcommittee for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.  Ms. Shook was elected to the Texas Assisted Living Association's Current Board of Directors.

Teresa consults with clients in the establishment and licensing of home health agencies, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and assisted living communities.

She brings extensive experience in the operation of entities requiring licensing and oversight from both federal and state agencies. She brings leadership and overall direction to the development team with a specific focus on the operations and clinical aspects of owning assisted living communities.

Skip Comsia

Skip’s background in the assisted living arena spans almost 30 years.  He began his professional career in property management 37 years ago in Florida and spent 5 years managing over 40 retirement apartment communities in Florida prior to moving to Texas.  Skip was solely responsible for the licensing of the very first assisted living community in the State of Texas.  He has developed assisted living communities with as many as 146 beds and Alzheimer facilities with 32 beds.

With intimate knowledge of the regulations governing Texas-based assisted living facilities, Mr Comisa was and continues to be involved with the development of licensing and operating standards.  He has been heavily involved at both the state and national levels, serving at the highest levels within the Board of Directors for both the Texas Assisted Living Association and the Assisted Living Federation of America.

Skip brings an expertise difficult to match by any organization in the country.  His knowledge of current and proposed regulations by both state associations and regulatory agencies allows the team the ability to generate practical, accurate solutions to the operational processes with relevant knowledge and experience in the construction and operating venues.

Jodi Barnes

Jodi has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Educational Psychology. She has comprehensive experience in assisting both the elderly and pediatric populations. She is on the Board of Directors for several different community organizations and she volunteers as a committee member for the Texas Assisted Living Association in Austin, Texas. As part of the senior management team of a newly constructed, 82 unit assisted living community, Jodi was involved in the design and construction of the facility, as well as the current operations. Due to her aggressive pursuit of the ultimate goal of full occupancy, the facility is at break-even only 90 days after opening.

Jodi is a nationally certified Assisted Living Administrator. She holds certifications in supervising front-line staff, hiring and recruiting, and risk management. She has experience in marketing, sales, financial planning, legal issues, and regulatory operation in assisted living communities. Jodi has also had experience with federal programs and non-profit programming. As the junior consultant in Assisted Living Consultants, Inc., her focus is financial planning and operations.
